HARRISBURG - Grants for projects related to conservation, recreation, historical preservation, graffiti removal and repair of institutional vandalism will soon be available through the state Department of Labor and Industry, according to Senator John R. Gordner (R-27), who chairs the Senate Labor and Industry Committee.

"The Department offers these grants through the Pennsylvania Conservation Corps, a program designed to provide work experience and educational opportunities to unemployed young adults," said Senator Gordner.

Funds available through the program are used to purchase construction materials, and the communities provide a 25 percent match. The wages of the Conservation Corps' personnel are paid directly by the Department of Labor and Industry.

For more information, contact the Pennsylvania Conservation Corps at (717) 783-6385, or download grant application materials from the Department's website at www.dli.state.pa.us (Keyword: pcc).
