STATE COLLEGE - Alexandra Singh, a student at Penn State University, has been elected to membership in Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society. Founded in 1923, Phi Eta Sigma is the oldest and largest freshman honor society in the country. The Penn State chapter boasts hundreds of members and focuses on a number of service-related activities. The mission of Phi Eta Sigma is to reward and encourage scholastic excellence among students from all curricula who have received an average of 3.5 grade-point average or above during their first or second semester at Penn State. An induction ceremony will be held at the Nittany Lion Inn.
Singh, a 2012 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School, is majoring in biohavioral health at Penn State University Park. She has been selected for dean's list for the fall semester, achieving a 3.87 average.
Singh is a daughter of Dr. Gurdial and Susan Singh, and a granddaughter of John and Rosemary Shervanick and Gurdarshan and the late Kaushalya Singh Nayar.
