Coal Twp. man accused of sexual assault waives hearing
SHAMOKIN - A 35-year-old Coal Township man charged with sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl in July waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III.
Kevin C. Glazik, of 510 N. First St., waived to court felonies of aggravated indecent assault and unlawful contact with a minor and a misdemeanor of indecent assault. He was ordered by Gembic to appear for plea court Nov. 4 at Northumberland County Courthouse, where he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek of a trial by pleading not guilty.
Gembic also instructed the defendant to avoid contact with the victim and all minors without supervision and enroll in a counseling group within 20 days.
Glazik, who had been remanded to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $75,000 cash bail since his arrest Sept. 10, was released by Gembic on unsecured supervised bail.
He was represented by county public defender Melissa Norton. First Assistant District Attorney Ann Targonski prosecuted the case.
At his arraignment earlier this month, Glazik admitted to committing the crimes and apologized for his actions.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Coal Township Detective Jeff Brennan, Glazik allegedly inappropriately touched an 8-year-old girl at his residence July 27.
