SHAMOKIN - Vinny Clausi is "100 percent" certain 300 to 500 good-paying jobs are coming to the area in the next two years, the Northumberland County Board of Commissioners chairman said Wednesday.

Taking the opportunity to address a crowd of 40 at the conclusion of the Brush Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce annual meet-the-candidates luncheon, Clausi said he has been working on the project for three years and has had help from fellow Commissioner Stephen Bridy for the past two years.

He said he couldn't divulge more details because of a confidentiality agreement, but said the deal would be done before the end of his four-year term as commissioner, which ends in December 2015.

Asked by a member of the audience if he could be more specific about what "area," Clausi said he could not.

In August, Clausi had publicly discussed his work with CC Industries (CCI) Inc. to purchase the remaining portion of the former Fleetwood RV complex in Paxinos. CCI is parent company of Great Dane Trailers, which also operates a plant in Danville.

At the time of the purchase, a spokesman for Great Dane said no specific plans had been announced for the Paxinos property.

Asked Wednesday if that purchase and his news about jobs were related, Clausi said he had no comment.
