HARRISBURG - Northumberland County Commissioner Chairman Vinny Clausi remains in fair condition today at Pinnacle Hospital, where he is recovering from diverticulitis, an intestinal infection.

When contacted by telephone Wednesday afternoon at the hospital, Clausi said his infection is not related to surgery he underwent March 20. The commissioner said he expects to remain in the hospital two or three more days.

Clausi said, "I will be back to work as soon as I can."

Clausi was initially taken to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital Monday night after becoming ill. He was admitted before being transferred by ambulance Tuesday afternoon to Pinnacle Hospital, where he underwent his previous surgery.

Tuesday's Northumberland County salary board meeting and regular session of the county commissioners were canceled due to Clausi being hospitalized.

The salary board session will be held at the beginning of the June 17 board of commissioners' meeting.
