Clarification: Solicitors OK with 2-minute limit of public comments during meetings

SUNBURY - Northumberland County's solicitor and his assistant are both OK with having a 2-minute time limit for public comment at county meetings.

Commissioner Rick Shoch was misquoted in Wednesday's edition in saying Frank Garrigan and John Muncer opposed the time limit. Shoch was misunderstood in saying he opposed it, and that he had expressed his concerns to Garrigan and Muncer.

Garrigan said further Wednesday that his concern is not how much time is given, but whether a 2-minute limit is legally enforceable, and he believes it is.

Also from Tuesday's meeting, Commissioner Stephen Bridy said he wanted to clarify that he did not mean to suggest he had talked to the FBI when the commissioners were further discussing investigation of the county's handling of the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP) grant funding. Bridy said he did, however, speak to the Office of the Inspector General with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
