ATLAS - President Cindy Saukaitis opened the Jan. 10 meeting of the Carmelite 50-Plus Club at Village Towne Restaurant, greeting the seven officers and members present. The group recited the Pledge of Allegiance, the Senior Adult Ministry prayer and Saint Mother Pauline prayer, and sang the 50-Plus song. Prayers were recited for the deceased and sick members of the club, espcially Alma Zosh and Gerry Palewicz, and for the troops. The group sang a verse of "America."

Special prayers were also said for the victims of Superstorm Sandy and the victims of the Newtown, Conn., school shooting.

After the meal, Maria Kaminski read the minutes from last month's meeting. They were approved on a motion by Arlene Terry and seconded by Tina Connor, and then placed on file. Al Visintainer gave the treasury report, which was approved on a motion by Evelyn Milewski, seconded by Frieda Terry, and made available for audit.

Dues were collected from all members present. The 50/50 drawing went to Arlene Terry and her mother, Frieda Terry.

The next meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Village Towne. Arlene Terry will bring dessert if she is going to be able to attend; if not, Kaminski will bring it.

On a motion by Milewski and seconded by Arlene Terry, the meeting was adjourned and the members played bingo.
