Carmelite 50+ Club
MOUNT CARMEL - President Cindy Saukitis opened the monthly meeting of the Carmelite 50+ Club and greeted the members and officers present. In attendance were 10 members. The Pledge of Allegiance, Sam's Prayer and St. Mother Pauline's prayer were recited, and the 50+ song and a verse of America was sung.
Prayers were said for the deceased and sick members of the club and for the safety of U.S. troops. A special prayer was said for the people of Flight 370, those of the sunken ferry and their families in South Korea and the people of Ukraine. Another prayer was said for the Rev. Karwacki who had been injured. the Rev. Dormer, who was nearby and overheard the prayer, said a prayer with the group and provided benediction.
After the meal, Maria read the minutes from last meeting. There was one correction - Lois Sejurst's name is spelled with a "j," not a "y." The minutes were approved on motion of Arlene Terry and seconded by Joice Jodis. Visintainer gave the treasury report, which was approved by Sejurst, seconded by Evelyn Milewski and is available for audit.
Saukitis, Sejurst and Tina Conner went to the Council of Catholic Women at the Cardinal Keeler Center in Harrisburg. Conner won a beautiful painting of a church. The 50/50 was won by Visintainer and Jenny Nolan.
The next meeting is at 5 p.m. June 12 at Village Towne Restaurant. Conner will bring ice cream for dessert.
On motion by Terry and seconded by Sejurst, the meeting was adjourned and members played bingo.
