SHAMOKIN - Friday could turn out to be a fun day for vehicles lovers in the Shamokin area.

Shamokin Area Elementary School has rescheduled a visit canceled by rain last week to bring unique vehicles to the school for viewing by students. Organizer John "Skip" Rabuck asks those with street rods, muscle cars, classics, antiques, Corvettes, motorcycles, four-wheel drive trucks and other specialty vehicles to meet at the Kemp Memorial Stadium parking lot on the school district grounds at 7:45 a.m. They'll drive to the school at 8:15 a.m. and be there approximately one hour.

The goal of the school visit is to allow students to travel back in time in viewing automobiles of the past and put smiles on their faces, Rabuck said.

On behalf of the Anthracite Heritage Festival of the Arts parade committee, Rabuck also encourages owners of classics and the like to participate in the parade at 6 p.m. Friday in downtown Shamokin. They should meet at approximately 5:30 p.m. at the police station parking lot at Mill Road Square, Franklin Street.

"This will be a chance to showcase your vehicles in front of large crowds of people both young and young at heart lined up along both sides of the parade route," Rabuck said.
