SHAMOKIN - For 18 1/2 years, The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy, 605 N. Shamokin St., has provided prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications and vitamins to residents of Shamokin, Coal Township, Kulpmont, Elysburg amd Trevorton.
Owners Tom and Lisa Bradley said their business has continued to grow, particularly the prescription delivery services. The shingles vaccine clinics, held monthly, have become very popular.
The Medicine Shoppe has also completed upgrades of its pharmacy computer system and installed a state-of-the-art cash register system.
The Medicine Shoppe is committed to quality customer service. Customers value the personalized attention they receive at The Medicine Shoppe from each member of the staff.
For 2010, The Medicine Shoppe has started a prescription savings club, which is a discount card program for people without prescription insurance.
The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy received the Community Service Award from Medicine Shoppe International in 2009 for the 18th consecutive year in recognition of its monthly blood pressure screenings, monthly shingles vaccine clinic and the yearly flu shot clinic held in conjunction with VNA Health System
During the past year, Medicine Shoppe has also become an accredited Medicare supplier of blood sugar testing supplies.
Tom Bradley said The Medicine Shoppe is proud to be a supporter of many local community groups and organizations, including Lower Anthracite Region United Way, local fire companies, Northumberland County Council for the Arts and Humanities, Anthracite Heritage Festival of the Arts, various high school clubs and activities and Little League baseball.
The Medicine Shoppe also sponsored one of the new Christmas decorations in downtown Shamokin and one of the Christmas "cards" in the Market Street Park.
