Massage therapist joins staff

Residents looking to relax, relieve stress, support recovery and relieve pain now have a new choice for massage therapy services. Jane Carroll, a certified massage therapist, has joined the staff of Central Penn Physical Therapy, and will provide massage therapy services at office locations in Elysburg, Shamokin and Ashland.

Carroll graduated with distinction from the McCann School of Business and Technology in 2005. She received national certification in 2006, and was recognized for earning high marks in all categories. She is able to provide clients with massage therapy techniques of Swedish massage, myofascial release and cranio-sacral therapy. A physician's referral is not required for massage services.

"Offering massage therapy is a way of meeting all our patients' needs," said Dr. Mary T. Stout, owner and director of Central Penn Physical Therapy. Massage therapy has been shown to be beneficial for back pain, neck pain, arthritis, plantar fascitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, TMJ disorders and myofascial pain. In addition, it is an important factor in stress management relaxation.

"At Central Penn Physical Therapy, our mission statement is to use a combination of various and specific manual and energetic techniques to reduce stress, reduce muscular restrictions and pain and promote relaxation," said Carroll. "We strive to enhance the total well-being of the patient."
