SUNBURY - Kelly Grego, a licensed practical nurse at Golden Living Center-Mansion, was selected as 2009 Associate of the Year at the nursing facility.
Grego has been part of the nursing facility team for 15 years. She is responsible for providing care and compassion to the residents.
Grego said the most rewarding part of her job is getting to know the people she cares for, and knowing she is making a difference in their lives. "I appreciate the honor of being selected Associate of the Year by my peers and the residents I care for each day," she said.
Grego, born in Centralia, is a daughter of Joseph and Eileen Bergen. She is a 1990 graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School, and also graduated in 1993 from Schuylkill Technology Center, where she received her nursing license.
Grego, who lives in Mount Carmel, is the mother of two children, Laura, 19, a second-year student at Temple University in Philadelphia, and Eddie, 12, a sixth-grade student at Mount Carmel Area Elementary School.
She enjoys crocheting, walking, attending crafting events, spending time with her children and raising her chocolate Labrador retriever.
Other associates who were honored as Associate of the Month during 2009 were Lillian Boop, Valerie Ritschel, Lydia Fritz, Bryan Klinger, Natalie Young, Aubrey Kurrell, Paul Leasure, Brittany Liddick, Jamie Fairlamb, Christopher Seiberling and Debra Wright.
Golden Living Center-Mansion, located at 1040 Market St., provides quality health care for 70 residents, including those needing skilled nursing and rehabilitative care. The nursing home has been part of the Sunbury community since 1969.
