Geisinger CEO named to board of WellCare

DANVILLE - Dr. Glenn D. Steele Jr., president and chief executive officer of Geisinger Health System, has been appointed to the WellCare Health Plans Inc. Board of Directors. Steele also will serve on WellCare's Health Care Quality and Access and Regulatory Compliance committees.

WellCare Health Plans Inc. provides managed care services for government-sponsored health-care programs, focusing on Medicaid and Medicare.

WellCare, which served approximately 2.4 million members throughout the U.S. as of June 30, offers a variety of health plans for families, children, and the aged, blind and disabled, as well as prescription drug plans.

"It is an honor to be selected to serve on WellCare's Board and be an active participant in enhancing its much-needed health-care services to our country's most at risk residents," said Steele.
