3 generations and still going strong
MOUNT CARMEL - 2013 looks to be a fun and exciting year for King Coal Tours as they have an outstanding lineup of one-day and vacation tours.
Jonathan Else stated, "I have never been more excited about the tours we have to offer than this year. Our staff did a tremendous job to offer something for everyone. New this year will be our wine and beer tours for those who love the grapes and barley. This is by far the most diverse and entertaining listing of tours we have published in years."
King Coal Tours will celebrate its 35th anniversary in the charter and tour business this year. In 1978, Kathy and Bob Else III came back from successful careers in Bucks County to begin the charter and tour operations with Bob's parents, Mary and Bob Else Jr. It was that year that the first motor coach was purchased and the tour and charter business began. As it progressed, more and more coaches were added to meet the demand of the region.
In 2005, Jonathan Else, the third generation, returned to the area after completing his MBA at Wilkes University. He came back to run the business as Bob III was undergoing treatments and two stem cell transplants for multiple myeloma. Bob is still fighting the good fight and Jonathan still remains in charge of all daily operations of the business.
One of King Coal Tours' most popular services is its four line run services to the Mohegan Sun Casino Pocono Downs in Wilkes-Barre. The first run started in 2010 and was a HUGE success from the beginning, running from Shamokin, Kulpmont, Mount Carmel, Ashland and Frackville. A second run was established very quickly to meet the demand from Elysburg, Danville, Bloomsburg and Berwick. This past year, they began two more line runs in order to service people from Hamburg, Orwigsburg, Schuylkill Haven, Pottsville and Tamaqua. The second new line run begins in Sunbury, Shamokin Dam, Lewisburg, Milton and Danville.
Along with help from a wonderful staff at Mohegan Sun Pocono Downs, King Coal Tours has obtained the highest rebate from any company and/or casino in this area. It is a great deal for local residents who pay $20 round trip for transportation and receive a $45 rebate upon arrival at the casino.
King Coal Tours has a huge selection of one-day tours this year. Featured destinations include New York City Day, both a day on your own and many Broadway shows, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Lancaster, dinner theaters, concerts, shore points, zoos, educational adventures and many more. This year, they will feature a new lineup of winery tours and tastings. They always obtain orchestra seats for performances, and only lower level seats for sporting events. If King Coal cannot obtain lower level seats, it will not sell the tour to its valued patrons. You will never sit in the nose-bleed sections for any of the performances or sporting events.
The list of vacation tours they offer can take you across this great country and back. Among those featured this year are: The Great Southwest, featuring Las Vegas, Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Missouri, Florida, New England, Vermont, Cape Cod, Montreal-Quebec, Mackinaw Island, Myrtle Beach, Mystic Seaport, Finger Lakes, Thousand Islands and many more. From arranging transportation, meals, lodging, attractions, guides, gratuities and baggage handling, King Coal Tours takes care of every detail when planning your itinerary.
They also realize that you may have limitations, so they offer you the opportunity to choose your level of involvement. When possible, exceptions can be made to an existing itinerary. You will have a professional escort and driver on all of the tours as well as local step-on guides at many destinations. They will make sure your tour is an enjoyable one full of laughter, friendliness, warmth and surprises. King Coal's reputation and personal concern has made them the leading motorcoach tour packaging company in this area.
All of the tours are "quality" from start to finish. Beginning with the equipment - King Coal utilizes modern MCI J4500 motor coaches on all vacation tours. They are equipped with air conditioning, stereo systems, reclining seats and headrests, WiFi, DVD monitors, individual air vents which each passenger can control, individual lighting, and a "galley" stocked with snacks and refreshments.
Many people are finding that motor coach travel far surpasses their expectations. There are no airport hassles, no long lines, no canceled flights at the last minute, no parking fees and no lost luggage. Departures are available from your area or you can choose to park at the bus company where your vehicle has 24-hour security. The convenience of traveling by motor coach can't be beat. All you do is sit back, relax and leave the driving to us. King Coal Tours staff, drivers and escorts make every effort to provide their customers with the utmost service.
Tour patrons will also travel with confidence knowing that King Coal has always received a satisfactory rating from the United States Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, indicating that King Coal has safety management controls in place to continue substantial compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. This followed an extensive inspection by the Federal DOT and Pennsylvania PUC. Your safety is our utmost concern.
If you have a large group or are looking for a great fundraiser idea, you can call King Coal Tours and charter your own bus. KCT has provided charter service for many local universities, athletic teams and area schools for years. You can charter any of their 47-, 54- and 56-passenger motor coaches. They will take care of your entire charter from start to finish, and they have a friendly charter staff that will be glad to assist you.
