SHAMOKIN - Brush Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce will host a debate next month between the two candidates for the state House of Representatives in the 107th Legislative District: incumbent Rep. Kurt Masser, Republican, and Ted Yeager, Democrat.

The debate, which will be sponsored by The News-Item, has been scheduled in conjunction with the chamber's October membership meeting. It will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 114 N. Second St.

The event is open to the public, but registration is required for those who want to have lunch. The cost is $15 for members and $18 for potential members. Registration can be made online at www.brushvalleychamber.com, calendar page.

Sandy Winhofer, chamber executive director, who announced plans for the debate, said additional information will be provided about the debate format later.

Throughout its 14-year history, the Brush Valley chamber has sponsored numerous candidate debates for legislative, county and other local offices.
