SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - A three-car accident around 4 p.m. Sunday on Route 61 between Paxinos and Stonington resulted in only minor injuries.

According to state police at Stonington, Joseph W. Kasper, 19, of Shamokin, and Brian E. Kimmel, 46, of West Chester, were both headed south in a 2001 Chevy Tracker and a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder, respectively. The men were slowing behind a vehicle preparing to make a left turn off of Route 61 when Scott A. Holtzapple, 45, of Sunbury, slammed his 2007 Jeep Wrangler into the back of Kasper's Tracker, which then smashed into the back of Kimmel's Pathfinder.

Kimmel's passenger, Grant E. Kimmel, 11, of West Chester, was transported to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, by Elysburg Fire Company's ambulance for minor injuries and was treated and released. Neither Kasper, Brian Kimmel, Holtzapple nor Holtzapple's passenger, Harrison M. Holtzapple, 14, of Sunbury, were injured, according to police.

Everyone involved was wearing seat belts, according to police.

Scott Holtzapple will be cited, police said.

Stonington Fire Company also assisted at the scene.
