Sunbury Rd. drainage work scheduled

RUSH TOWNSHIP - Daytime detours will start Monday. A PennDOT maintenance crew in Northumberland County is scheduled to begin a series of cross pipe replacements to improve drainage along a section of Sunbury Road (State Route 4004) in Rush Township, starting Monday, weather permitting.

Daylight, weekday, red-arrow detours will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through July 17.

The daily closures will be between the Mile Hill Road (SR 4006) intersection north of Klines Grove, east to the intersection with State Route 4001.

The signed detour will follow Mile Post Road, Shikellamy Avenue, Routes 147, 11 and 54, and SR 4001 through Riverside.

Route 11 project update

NORTHUMBERLAND - There will be a one-weekend truck detour during the upcoming construction phases on Route 11 in the borough. The contractor plans to implement it at 10 p.m. Friday and continuing until 6 a.m. July 13. The signed detour will be for truck traffic only, as the contractor will be doing concrete pavement patches at the intersection of Route 11 (Water Street) and Route 147 (Duke Street). Passenger vehicles will be restricted to a single lane through the work zone during that phase of construction.

Paving on Water Street between Duke and King Streets will be done at night starting on July 13. This should only take three nights. Upon completing this work the project should be done.
