Apfelbaum office moving to Northumberland County admin building
SUNBURY - A magisterial district judge office that has been in the Sunbury Municipal Building next to Northumberland County Courthouse for many years will be relocated across town to the county administration center.
In a move that will save $15,000 per year in rent and utilities and provide better security, county commissioners Vinny Clausi, Stephen Bridy and Richard Shoch voted Tuesday not to renew the lease for the office of Magisterial District Judge Benjamin Apfelbaum, 225 Market St. When the lease expires Dec. 31, the office will be relocated to the human resources department at the administration complex; the courtroom will be in the public meeting room.
The relocation is pending approval by the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts.
"This will result in a cost savings to the county and better security," Clausi said.
