March 2 - Columbia County Coroner Lori Masteller reported David Alan Lynch, a former state trooper found dead a year earlier in the forest near Bear Gap, died from hypothermia due to multiple contributing factors, including the use of bath salts.

March 3 - Mount Carmel and Lourdes Regional girls basketball teams earned district titles, joining Shamokin Area, whose girls won their title the day before.

March 9 - A day-long search of an off-road area of Zerbe Township ended with the discovery of the body of Thomas Kruskie III, 25, of Shamokin, in his crashed vehicle.

March 19 - Shamokin police and Shamokin Area School District were concerned over a growing problem of videos of pre-arraigned fist fights involving juveniles.

March 21 - Employees of Saint Catherine's Medical Center, Fountain Springs, complained of late paychecks as questions mounted about the hospital's financial standing. Two days later, the state ordered the hospital not to accept any new patients.

March 29 - Shamokin Area elementary teacher Victor E. Swaboski III was charged with driving under the influence and aggravated assault by vehicle after he allegedly struck five teens with his vehicle near Mount Carmel Area Elementary School.
