New commissioners, other officeholders sworn in
SUNBURY — This morning’s inauguration ceremonies at Northumberland County Courthouse ushered in a new, historic era in county politics with the challenges of a tough financial picture well noted amid the otherwise festive atmosphere.
Sworn into office were Judge Charles H. Saylor, Commissioners Vinny Clausi, Attorney Richard Shoch and Stephen Bridy, Sheriff Chad Reiner, District Attorney Anthony Rosini, Controller Anthony Phillips, Treasurer Kevin Gilroy and Magisterial District Judges Robert Bolton, John Gembic III, Hugh Alan Jones and Benjamin Apfelbaum.
Clausi, Shoch and Bridy - as Democrat, Republican and Independent, respectively - comprise the first board of such makeup in county history. Shoch was the first Independent elected to a commissioner position in county history.
The hour-long festivities included brief remarks by each of the new and incumbent office holders and welcoming and closing comments by President Judge Robert B. Sacavage. Read the complete story in Wednesday's print and online editions of The News-Item.
