BEAR GAP - A 27-year-old Ralpho Township man escaped injury Monday morning when the car he was driving went out of control on ice-covered Route 54 on the Natalie Mountain and flipped to its roof.

Adam Cook, of 332 S. Market St., Elysburg, said he was on his way to work in Pottsville when the accident occurred around 8 a.m.

Mount Carmel Township Police said a  heavy dew and freezing temperatures caused icy conditions on the highway between Natalie and Bear Gap and that contributed to the accident.

Cook was southbound ascending the mountain road when his 200t Saturn Ion skidded on the icy road, strruck an embankment on the right side and then rolled over in the outside southbound traffic lane. The vehicle had to be towed.
