Ralpho Township Police are investigating a one-vehicle accident that occurred
around 4:35 a.m. Monday on Bottle Road, Paxinos. Police said a 2008 Kia
Spectra, driven by Joseph Andrew Drost, 19, of Coal Township, was traveling
north when Drost lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a left-hand turn.
The Spectra crossed the southbound lane, hitting an embankment and flipping
over. The vehicle came to rest on its driver’s side against a utility pole, police
said. Drost was trapped within his vehicle for approximately 15 minutes, and
was extricated from his vehicle by Elysburg fire and rescue personnel. He was
transported by Elysburg Fire Department MICU to Shamokin Area Community
Hospital for evaluation. Assisting at the scene were fire police from the Elysburg
Fire Department. Pictured above is Drost’s vehicle after Monday’s accident.
