Downed power lines reported cause of outage; power now restored
COAL TOWNSHIP - Power is now restored to all PPL customers affected by this morning's outage, according to PPL's website. Teri MacBride, a PPL spokesperson, says the power outage in eastern Coal Township, which knocked out power to an estimated 574 customers, was caused after a truck passing through the area brought down power lines. A PPL employee near the scene further explained the cause of Wednesday morning's outage, saying a dump truck with its box up hit a PPL power line and tripped the system. It had to be restarted, he said. The incident occurred on land along Route 901 across from Ranshaw.
