ELYSBURG - Betty Ann Shimko and Jason William Haile were united in marriage Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at the Elysburg Alliance Church by the Rev. Joan A. Brown.
The bride is a daughter of John and Jane Shimko, Elysburg. She is a granddaughter of the late Francis and Mary Shimko and the late Quentin and Betty Boyer.
The groom is a son of William and Catherine Haile, Coal Township. He is a grandson of Mary Varano and the late Samuel Varano, and the late Gerard Haile and Alma (Haile) Donath.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose her sister, Karen Cecco, as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Sharon McHenry, Kristen Stanton and Haley Caponigro, friends of the bride. Flower girls were Heather and Hailey Cecco, nieces of the bride.
The groom chose his brother, Jeremy Haile, as best man. Groomsmen were Justin Feudale, friend of the groom, and Kevin Metrocavage and Michael Moran, cousins of the groom. Ushers were Steven Cecco, brother-in-law of the bride, and Allen Zawalick, cousin of the groom.
Tricia Haile, sister of the groom, read a poem and Scripture verse during the ceremony. Pam Seidel, friend of the bride, served as the greeter and guestbook attendant. Lydia Young and John Daniel Kerris were vocalists, while Bonny Klinger provided accompaniment on the piano.
Following the ceremony, a cocktail hour and reception were held at the Danville Elks.
The bride is a graduate of Southern Columbia High School and Shippensburg University. She is employed by Geisinger System Services, Danville.
The groom is a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School and Luzerne County Community College. He also served in the U.S. Navy from 1997 to 2001. He is employed by Cleveland Brothers Equipment Company, Frackville.
The couple honeymooned in Hawaii and now make their home in Elysburg.
