SHAMOKIN - Christal Lynn Hertzog and David Henry Searles were united in marriage Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Shamokin.

The ceremony was officiated by Pastor Robert Peiffer.

Music was provided by Todd Hummel, soloist, Jack Umholtz was organist and Jordan Badman played a selection on guitar. Photographer was Mark Pasquinelli.

The bride is a daughter of Robert and Ethelmae Hertzog, of Shamokin. The groom is a son of Audrey Searles, of Wilkes-Barre, and the late Henry Searles.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her mother due to her father's illness. The bride wore a Princess style long sleeve lace gown with flowing train trimmed in pearls and white sequins.

The matron of honor was Jamie Badman, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids included Jill Hertzog, sister-in-law of the bride, and Ellen Bloom, friend of the bride. Junior bridesmaid/flower girl was Jordan Badman, a daughter of the matron of honor.

Bob Failla, friend of the groom, served as best man. The groomsmen included Rob Hertzog, brother of the bride, and Earl Bell, friend of the groom. Junior groomsman/ring bearer was Austin Badman, a son of the matron of honor.

The bride is a graduate of Southern Columbia High school, Catawissa, and Washingtonville School of Practical Nursing. She is employed at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

The groom is a graduate of Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, Allegheny Community College and the University of St. Francis, Joliet, Ill. He is employed at Digirad Corp.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Wayside Inn, Weigh Scales.

The couple honeymooned in St. Lucia.

They reside in Overlook.
