Amy Binkoski and William Porto were married Jan. 9, 2010, in Zihuatanejo, Mexico.

The bride is a daughter of Edward and Nancy Binkoski, of Coal Township. She is a 1993 graduate of Shamokin Area High School, a 1997 graduate of Muhlenberg College and earned her doctorate in 2004 from Penn State University. She is employed as an assistant professor of nutrition and dietetics at Messiah College in Grantham.

The groom is a son of Judith Porto, of Shamokin, and the late William G. Porto. He is a 1989 graduate of Shamokin Area High School, and is a self-employed contractor.

Presented in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by Susan Lloyd, her sister, and Jessica Ritrovato, sister of the groom.

Groomsmen were Brian Ritrovato, brother-in-law of the groom, and Matthew Evans, nephew of the bride.

A religious ceremony was held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church followed by a beachside civil ceremony.

The reception was held at sunset at Paty's Marimar Restaurant on La Ropa Beach and guests ended the night with a fireworks display on the beach.

Close family and friends enjoyed four days of festivities surrounding the wedding day. The couple remained in Zihuatanejo for their honeymoon. They currently reside in Mechanicsburg.
