Mr. and Mrs. James George, Throop, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday. They were married Sept. 22, 1962, in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Kulpmont, by the late Monsignor Francis J. Hudak.

Mrs. George is the former Mary Ann Delvecchio, a daughter of the late Frederick and Eleanor Vivino Delvecchio. She is a graduate of Kulpmont High School and was a secretary for more than 35 years at St. Joseph's Center, where she started as a volunteer.

Mr. George is the son of the late Andrew and Angela Macknis George. He is a graduate of Kulpmont High School and is retired from The Times-Tribune in Scranton, where he was a member of the sports department and a copy editor.

The couple have two sons, James and Robert. They also have two grandchildren.

They marked the occasion with family and friends at Abington Manor, where Mrs. George is a resident.
