SHAMOKIN - John and Marian Klebon, of Shamokin, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on May 25.

The former Marian Theresa Mroz and John Klebon were married May 25, 1963, and have lived "happily ever after" since. The not-so-newlyweds have two daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Steve Brown, of Watsontown, and Linda and Jonathan Lunn, of Hollywood, Md. They have five grandchildren, Annette Melanie and Alex Brown, of Watsontown, and Jessica, Christopher and Alicia, of Hollywood, Md.

Marian and John have spent the past 50 years devoted to their family. In addition to taking care of their immediate family, Marian and John, fondly referred to by all as "Ba Ba and Pappy," are always taking care of someone else in need by checking on sick neighbors, purchasing and delivering groceries and medications, donating clothes and food to needy families, babysitting grandchildren, helping maintain neighbors' rental properties, fixing things for family and friends and making gift bags for the entire family for every occasion, just to name a few.

"Ba Ba" is known all over town for her famous fudge, which she delivers when she has doctor appointments, pharmacy visits or for any other friendly acquaintance. "Pappy" is known as "Mr. Fix-it" or "pop" to his former National Guard buddies. He has given a second chance to many toys and electrical items for the family and enjoys building Legos with Alex, although he has been known to construct them even when Alex is not around.

In celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary, 20 of their family members are surprising them with a trip to Johnstown for a weekend polka festival from May 31 to June 2. It would have been nice to re-enact their wedding day with a banquet hall and a private polka band, but Stanky and the Coal Miners were not available. Their family would like to say, "Thanks for an awesome 50 years and best wishes for many more."
