SHAMOKIN - Mr. and Mrs. M. Philip Yucha, of 2137 Stetler Drive, Coal Township, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, June 8, 2013. Following a special blessing by the Rev. Adrian Gallagher of Our Lady of Hope Parish, they celebrated at Brewser's SportsGrille with close friends and family.

The couple were married on June 8, 1963, by the Rev. Mucha, in St. Stephen's Church, Coal Township.

Mrs. Yucha is the former Connie Hynoski, daughter of the late Benjamin and Bernice Hynoski. She was employed at Shroyer's as a seamstress for a few years and then became a stay-at-home mom. She currently enjoys her best job of all, being a Grammy.

Mr. Yucha is a son of the late Frank and Charlotte Yucha. He is the former publisher of The News-Item, where he was employed for more than 35 years until his retirement on Dec. 31, 1999.

The lifelong Shamokin residents are parents of two children, Tammy Leeman and her husband, Ken, and Leanne Rosini. They have four grandchildren, Justin and Micaela Leeman and Trisha and Nathan Rosini.
