Anniversary: Mr. and Mrs. Edward O'Brien
SHAMOKIN - Mr. and Mrs. Edward O'Brien, of 108 S. Vine St., are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary today.
The couple were married June 5, 1943, by the Rev. Ernest Wieprecht in St. Stanislaus Church, Shamokin.
Mrs. O'Brien is the former Dorothy Teraskiewicz, a daughter of the late Joseph and Catharine Teraskiewicz.
Mr. O'Brien is a son of the late Frank and Ida (Tomashefskie) O'Brien.
The lifelong Shamokin residents are parents of seven children, including Robert O'Brien and his wife, Mary; Ann Louise Thomas and her husband, Gary; Thomas O'Brien and his wife, June, all of the Shamokin area; Rose O'Brien, of Meadowview; Rita Goguts and her husband, Michael, of Millmont, and Edward J. O'Brien and Patricia (O'Brien) Stanchick, both of whom are deceased.
They also have eight grandchildren, Glenda, Tracey and Michael (deceased) Goguts, Gary, Eric (deceased), Nicole and Ryan Thomas, and Marcus O'Brien. They have eight great-grandchildren, William Breinich, Blake and Haley Ann Bozza (both deceased), Colin Bozza, Gabrielle and Desire Thomas, Brady Bonetti and Benjamin Olbrish.
Mr. O'Brien was employed by Reading Railroad Company as a brakeman and conductor on passenger trains.
Mrs. O'Brien was a salesperson at the former Jamesway Department Store.
