A daughter, Sophia Emily Karlovich, was born to Jennifer (Smink) and Michael Karlovich, of Sunbury, at 9:54 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. The baby weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces, and was 21 1/2 inches in length. Maternal grandparents are Edward and Bonnie Smink, of Coal Township. Paternal grandparents are Thomas and Margaret Karlovich, of Elysburg. Great-grandmother is Helen Sabol. The baby joins a big brother, Hayden, at home.

1-vehicle crash SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - A Winfield woman escaped injury after losing control of her car on Route 61 just south of Holly Road Saturday, according to state police at Stonington. Dahnya N. Heim, 32, was heading north on Route 61 around 4:44 p.m.
