A son, Edward Joseph Dye IV, was born to Edward J. Dye III and Amanda McHugh, of Shamokin, at 3:35 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Delaware County Memorial Hospital. The baby weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and was 20 1/2 inches long. Maternal grandparents are James and Cindy McHugh, of Norwood. Paternal grandparents are Erich and Joan Schaeffer, of Shamokin.

Shikellamy grad receives double lung transplant

Nineteen year-old Ashley Spotts, suffering from cystic fibrosis and diabetes, got a Valentine's Day gift of life: a bilateral lung transplant. The 12-hour operation took place Sunday at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Presbyterian Hospital.
