KULPMONT — James A. Mundy, 65, of 138 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, was cited by Police Chief Richard Wilson III for issuing a bad check in the amount of $300 on June 25 to B&B Heating Oil.
Cruelty to animals
KULPMONT — David John Bills, 23, of 1211 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, was charged by Police Chief Richard Wilson III with cruelty to animals for allegedly throwing his cat and hitting it with a board at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
Bad check
MOUNT CARMEL — Charles Trego III of Shamokin was cited by Officer Justin Stelma for issuing a bad check totaling $28.50 on April 19 to Sam Pasky Distributors.
Trespassers
MOUNT CARMEL — Officer William Adamski has cited Carlos Perez III, 19, of South Poplar Street, Mount Carmel, and a 14-year-old female from Mount Carmel for criminal trespass relating to an incident that occurred shortly after 8 p.m. Sept. 24 in the area of Willow Court Housing Complex at Seventh and Willow streets.
Police said Perez also was cited for possession of alcohol.
Theft charges
HUMMELS WHARF — Jackson A. Lawton, 24, of Sunbury, was charged by state police at Selinsgrove with theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing $180 from a cash register drawer at the JC Penney store in the Susquehanna Valley Mall between Sept. 9 and 20.
Police said Lawton stole the money while working as a cashier at the store.
Harassment
SHAMOKIN — Jenny D. Davis, 25, of 19 E. Independence St., Shamokin, and Timothy Jeremiah, 18, of Shamokin, were cited by Patrolman Nathan Rhodes for harassment relating to incidents that occurred Sunday night at Davis’ apartment.
Police reported Davis allegedly threw eggs at Jeremiah from her apartment, while Jeremiah allegedly yelled obscene language at Davis shortly after 7 p.m.
Jeremiah also was cited by Patrolman Bryan Primerano for underage drinking and disorderly conduct involving an incident that occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. Saturday at Independence and Cleaver streets.
Criminal mischief
COAL TOWNSHIP — Police here are investigating a theft and criminal mischief that occurred between noon Saturday and 11 p.m. Sunday along Route 901.
Police reported someone broke a driver’s side window on a 2004 tri-axle truck and removed a Galaxy CB radio from the vehicle.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Coal Township police at 644-0333.
Bad check
COAL TOWNSHIP — Kyleen Schafte, 39, of 1224 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, has been charged by Patrolman Chris Lapotsky with issuing a bad check in the amount of $154.95 to Shamokin Area School District on June 6.
DUI charges
COAL TOWNSHIP — Anthony Rutkowskie, 61, of Coal Township, has been charged by Patrolman Jason Adams with driving under the influence of alcohol relating to a DUI checkpoint along Route 61 at about 1 a.m. Sept. 13.
Police reported Rutkowskie failed field sobriety tests and was later found to have a .09 percent blood-alcohol content.
Gun theft
COAL TOWNSHIP — Adam N. White, 22, of 816 N. Washington St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Joshua Wynn with theft, theft from a motor vehicle and criminal conspiracy to commit theft relating to an Aug. 6 incident in the 1400 block of West Walnut Street.
Police reported White was involved in the theft of a Llama .22-caliber handgun owned by Michael Jaworski.
White was arraigned at 4 p.m. Friday via videoconferencing by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.
Harassment charge
COAL TOWNSHIP — George Zarick, 49, of 1100 Center St., Tharptown, was cited by Patrolman Joshua Wynn for two counts of harassment relating to a Sept. 6 disturbance at Brewser’s SportsGrille at Water and Cliff streets.
Police reported Zarick is accused of bumping his chest into Michael Dupnock, 59, of Coal Township, spitting in his face, cursing at him and challenging him to fight. Zarick also is charged with cursing at Patricia Sheriff, 50, of Kulpmont, and threatening to punch her in the face.
Police said the incidents occurred at about 10 p.m.
Retail theft
COAL TOWNSHIP — A 14-year-old male from Shamokin was cited by Patrolman Chad Yoder for retail theft for allegedly stealing $52.82 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart Supercenter along Route 61 on Sept. 20.
ATV theft charges
COAL TOWNSHIP — Matthew Pastucha, 30, of Tamaqua, was charged by Detective Jeff Brennan with receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy involving the theft of two all-terrain vehicles owned by Lewis Moore that were stolen from Moore’s garage behind his residence at 305 Webster St., Ranshaw, on Oct. 22, 2006.
Pastucha and several other defendants were charged in connection with a burglary ring that was busted by Coal Township police and state police in a Sept. 5 raid.
Charges in bar assault
SHAMOKIN — James Moore, 25, of 111 Short St., Ranshaw, has been charged by Shamokin and Coal Township police with multiple offenses that occurred earlier this month.
Moore is charged by Shamokin Cpl. Edward Griffiths with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and harassment/stalking involving a Sept. 21 disturbance at Tiffany’s Lounge on East Independence Street.
Moore is accused of striking Tiffanie Jackson in the face with a beer bottle, causing her to receive stitches, at about 1:45 a.m.
Moore also is charged by Coal Township Patrolman Terry Ketchem with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness relating to a disturbance that occurred shortly after 4:30 a.m. Sept. 15 at his residence.
Moore was arraigned at 3:30 p.m. Thursday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $30,000 bail on all charges.
