Accidents in Zerbe Township

Life Flight lands at the Zerbe Township baseball field to transport the first of two vehicle accidents on private property near a coal stripping area off Sunshine Road in Zerbe Township Sunday afternoon. State police at Stonington did not reveal much about the accidents, saying only that a 23-year-old male from Mount Pleasant Mills was injured after a dirt bike accident in the stripping area at 2:20 p.m., while the second victim, a 15-year-old female from Duncannon, was injured in an ATV accident at 5:05 p.m. Both individuals were taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for treatment via Life Flight helicopter.

Shikellamy grad receives double lung transplant

Nineteen year-old Ashley Spotts, suffering from cystic fibrosis and diabetes, got a Valentine's Day gift of life: a bilateral lung transplant. The 12-hour operation took place Sunday at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Presbyterian Hospital.
